About Our Region
Welcome > Local Info >  About Our Region ...

Welcome to the Lansdale, Harleysville and Schwenksville Areas, part of the historic Delaware Valley of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Beautiful Bucks and Montgomery Counties are rich in culture, history, sports, and quality-of-life! Please allow me to highlight just a few of the gems that make living, playing, and working in the Delaware Valley a wonderful and unique experience.

The Perkiomen TrailPerkiomen Trail

The 19-mile Perkiomen Trail runs through the Perkiomen Creek Valley from its junction with the Schuylkill RivPerkiomen Trail Maper Trail at Oaks, Upper Providence Township to the largest County Park, Green Lane Park. Most of the trail is a 10-foot wide cinder or stone aggregate surface with grass shoulders. Selected sections are  paved where deemed appropriate.

The multi-use trail follows the Perkiomen Creek and connects three County parks (Lower Perkiomen Valley Park, Central Perkiomen Valley Park, and Green Lane Park) and two County historic sites ("Mill Grove" – Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary and PennypackerPerkiomen Trail Mills). It passes directly through ten (10) municipalities making connections to numerous municipal parks and open spaces along the scenic waterway. The trail provides access to Valley Forge National Historical Park via its connection to the Schuylkill River Trail extension.

Valley Forge National Park

Of all the places associated with America's War for Independence, none conveys more the impression of suffering, sacrifice, and ultimate triumph than Valley Forge. No battles were fought here, no bayonet charges or artillery bombardments took place, but during the winter of 1777-78 approximately 2,000 soldiers died at hospitals in the surrounding area nonetheless. Valley Forge is the story of an army's epic struggle to survive against terrible odds, against hunger, disease, and the unrelenting forces of nature.

The campaign that resulted in the Valley Forge encampment began in late August 1777 when Sir William Howe, commander in chief of British forces in North America, landed his veteran army at the upper end of Chesapeake Bay. His objective was Philadelphia, the patriot capital. The American commander, George Washington, maneuvered the Continental Army into position to defend the city. Howe's skillful tactics, combined with errors made by Washington's army, led to a British victory at the Brandywine; the flight of the Continental Congress to York, Pa.; the British occupation of Philadelphia; and a defeat at Germantown.

Freddy Hill FarmIf you are a kid, or just a kid at heart, the Greater Elmwood Park ZooDelaware Valley has many attractions to delight and inspire! How about a game of miniature golf at Waltz' Golf Farm in Limerick or Freddy Hill Farms in Lansdale?

Or if you love animals, a trip to the zoo is always great fun. Of course everybody knows about the Philadelphia Zoo but there is also a gem of a zoo in Norristown called the Elmwood Park Zoo. Visit either of these zoos to see exhibits of animals and learn about a variety of animials from around the world. Philadelpha Zoo
Franklin Institue
For those with the heart of an adventurer or explorer, perhaps the Please Touch Museum or the exhibits at the Franklin Institue hold more of an interest.

Or perhaps you would like to take a ride back in time at New Hope Ivyland Trainthe New Hope-Ivyland Rail Road. These old-fashioned steam and diesel engines transport you to a different place and time.
Sesame PlaceDorney Park

Real Estate Tips
Time to Move >Empty Nests

When their last child is married or graduates from college, many couples feel the urge to give up yard work, sell their homes, and become sophisticated city dwellers. They may consider a condominium or a home near theaters, restaurants, museums and other in-town excitement.
Although city living has many rewards, this type of move represents a major change in lifestyle. You will be relieved of a lot of maintenance chores, and you will be close to many activities that not available in the suburbs. However, some things that you take for granted, like a parking place, may not be readily available in a city!

Before you make a commitment to a condominium, talk to the people who live there. Like suburban developments, town house and condo developments often have covenants and owners' association restrictions which limit what you can do with your home. A professional real estate agent can get you the answers to any questions you may have about this important move.
