About the Schwenksville, Pennsylvania Area

 The Greater Schwenksville Area is located in the scenic Perkiomen Valley of Montgomery County in southeastern Pennsylvania. The area includes Schwenksville Borough as well as parts of both Lower Frederick and Perkiomen Townships.
Schwenksville Borough is the heart of this picturesque area running along the beautiful Perkiomen Creek. Though not officially incorporated until 1903, it's earliest settlers arrived in 1684 and settled on land ceded by the Lenni-Lenape Indians to William Penn. 
The area's heyday ran from approximately 1869 when railroad service reach Schwenksville until the 1920's. The passenger railroad brought many summer visitors to the area, especially popular for it's boating and swimming. Other attractions included several summer hotels on Spring Mountain, just outside of Schwenksville, an observatory, and an amusement park. Today the area has an abundance of parks and recreational opportuinities including walking trails and Spring Mountain Ski Area.
